Publication Process
This page explains how work moves from submission to publication at The Noct Journal. Online submissions are not open yet, and this description does not represent an automated submission system.
Overview
Each submission is considered for relevance, originality, evidence, accuracy, clarity, and alignment with the Journal's editorial standards. Review may end at any stage, and submission does not guarantee publication.
Submission
When submissions open, contributors will be asked to provide author information, the article or paper, sources and citations, and a conflict-of-interest disclosure. Submission instructions will be published on the Submit Work page.
AI Screening
AI-assisted tools may help identify missing materials, formatting issues, citation concerns, or content requiring closer examination. AI output is advisory: it does not accept, reject, or publish work. Human editors evaluate all findings and make every final editorial decision.
Editorial Review
Human editors assess the submission's claims, reasoning, sourcing, structure, relevance, originality, disclosures, and suitability for the Journal. Editors may verify facts, request supporting material, and consult additional reviewers.
Technical Review (when applicable)
Work involving specialized methods, data, software, scientific claims, security research, or other technical subjects may be reviewed by a qualified subject-matter reviewer. Technical review supplements rather than replaces editorial review.
Revision Requests
Editors may request changes to accuracy, sourcing, scope, analysis, disclosures, structure, or clarity. A revision request is not an acceptance. Revised work may undergo additional editorial or technical review.
Acceptance
Acceptance occurs only after a human editor determines that the work meets the standards required for publication. Acceptance may still depend on final verification, editing, author approval of substantive changes, and publication preparation.
Publication
Accepted work is prepared for the Journal, including formatting, citations, metadata, accessibility review, and final proofreading. The author will receive an email with the published article link after it becomes available.
Corrections
Substantive errors discovered after publication are corrected transparently. A correction notice should explain what changed and, when useful, when the correction was made.
Retractions
Work may be retracted when its central findings are no longer reliable, when serious misconduct is established, or when continued publication would materially mislead readers. A retraction notice should explain the reason while preserving an appropriate public record.
Publication Transparency
Published work should identify its author, editors, publication and update dates, relevant disclosures, citations, and corrections. Additional information about these expectations appears in the Editorial Standards.
